Version

Media3 1.11.1

More version details

Devices that reproduce the issue

FireTV stick running FireOS 5, 6, 7 (devices with "OMX.dolby.ac3.decoder" decoder)

Devices that do not reproduce the issue

FireTV stick running FireOS 8 and above (devices with "C2.dolby.ac3.decoder" decoder)

Reproducible in the demo app?

Not tested

Reproduction steps

In MediaCodecRender#codecNeedsEosPropagationWorkaround there is list of blacklisted media decoders known to throw away EOS buffer. However the affected decoders seem more widespread. I tested on two fireTV sticks running OS 7 (with "OMX.dolby.ac3.decoder" decoder) and the same issue appears there as well. My assumption is that all fireTV devices with "OMX.dolby.ac3.decoder" decoder are affected.

  1. Get multi-period stream with dolby audio on a fireTV device running OS 7 or below.
  2. Connect the device to a surrounding audio device via bluetooth.

Expected result

Stream should play smoothly

Actual result

During period transition, ExoPlayer sends an EOS to "OMX.dolby.ac3.decoder" and freezes forever.

Media

I cannot provide a test stream.
