Though the Japanese economy was shaken, the country's automakers churned out brilliant cars at every price point including grand tourers like the Toyota Supra and Mazda FD RX-7 along with sophisticated sports cars such as the Acura NSX and Nissan Skyline. Other highlights included the final evolutions of the air-cooled Porsche 911, a new generation of pony cars from Ford and Chevrolet, and exotics like the Bugatti EB110 and McLaren F1 that remain performance icons 30 years later.
