In the heart of Chianti Classico

We admit it, at first sight those who visit us have the feeling of entering a classic postcard of Tuscany. Hills, vineyards, an old farmhouse, old stones, cypresses, lemons as yellow as the sun, the scent of rosemary, lavender and thyme flooding the air. But then, those who pass the threshold of the old grey door restored by Franco, discover a world that goes far beyond the usual Tuscan cliché.

The Palagio di Panzano of Monia and Franco is a small world apart that amazes for its harmonious blend of contrasts: old and new, traditional and courageously creative, “Panzanese” by heart and cosmopolitan by spirit. Here, the family-like, informal yet highly professional hospitality, the dreamlike nature and the excellent wine culture are experiences to be touched and lived to the full. Just as Monia and Franco have dreamt it from the very beginning. We promise it, those who visit us will fall in love.

The essence of nature

The nature that surrounds Il Palagio is a precious gift. Its rhythm, its elements, its immense beauty are right there in front of us. We just need to open the door, the eyes, the heart and inhale the light, the infinite shades of color, the scent of the soil. All this finds expression in our wine that is both, a homage to this unique stretch of land and a distillate of its very essence.

30 years of us

It all began in 1965, when my grandfather, Dario Piccini, purchased Il Palagio. His dream was simple yet powerful: to have his own land to grow “a bit of everything” – vegetables, fruit, olive trees, and vines. He wanted a place to raise animals and provide for his family. He had the intuition and the heart to choose this breathtaking ridge overlooking the Conca d’Oro, a corner of paradise I learned to love as a little girl.

“Now I see the secret of the making of the best persons.
It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.”
