4.0L V6-Powered 1988 Ford Bronco II 4X4
This 1988 Ford Bronco II underwent an overhaul under current ownership that included a repaint in matte desert tan as well as the installation of drivetrain, suspension, and interior components sourced from a 1994 Ford Explorer. Power is provided by a 4.0-liter V6 linked with a rebuilt five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, a Dana 35 front axle, and a Ford 8.8″ rear axle. Additional features include 15” Tactik black steel wheels, 32″ Maxxis RAZR M/T tires, a James Duff 4” long-travel front suspension lift, manual locking front hubs, a front brush guard with a Warn winch, a rear receiver hitch, and a touchscreen stereo with Apple CarPlay. This Bronco II is now offered at no reserve with a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.

The truck was refinished in matte desert tan, and replacement door and window seals were fitted along with extended fender flares. Exterior details include a black grille, a brush guard, a Warn winch, a receiver hitch, and a swing-out spare tire carrier. The rear hatch wiper and fluid dispenser are not connected. A tow bar is included in the sale.

Black 15″ wheels are mounted with 32×11.5″ Maxxis RAZR M/T tires. The suspension features a James Duff 4” long-travel setup up front as well as rear lift blocks, drop shackles, and Bilstein rear shocks. The truck is equipped with manual locking front hubs and power-assisted steering. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a split-folding rear bench upholstered in tan cloth. Appointments include a heater, a touchscreen head unit, and a rear-view camera. The seats were reupholstered and the carpets and headliner were replaced during the refurbishment. The power door lock actuators are disconnected.

The dashboard and two-spoke steering wheel were transferred from the 1994 Explorer donor vehicle. Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 5k of which were added since the overhaul was completed. A potential odometer rollover is shown on the Carfax report in November 1995. Total mileage is unknown. The ABS light is illuminated, however the seller reports the brakes work as designed.

The 4.0-liter V6 was sourced from a 1994 Ford Explorer. Work performed during the swap included replacing the water pump, radiator hoses, fuel tank, valve cover gaskets, and oil pan gasket.

Power is delivered to the rear or all four wheels through a rebuilt five-speed manual transmission, a Dana 35 front axle, and a Ford 8.8″ rear axle. The seller notes that the dual-range transfer case is a manual unit. A replacement clutch was installed during the build.
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned potential odometer rollover.
