test(css): compare the css-parsing-tests trees rather than only running them - #22243
Conversation
…ng them The suite compiled all 8366 corpus inputs but compared only the 13 that `color3_keywords.json` and friends state a color for. The other six files state the tree each entry point should read, in a JSON form webpack's nodes can be written back into, so they are now asserted rather than smoke-run. Adds `test/helpers/serializeCssTree.js`, which writes a webpack CSS node in upstream's representation, and a `css-parsing-tests trees` describe over `component_value_list`, `one_component_value`, `one_declaration`, `one_rule`, `rule_list` and `stylesheet`: 82 comparable cases, 58 agreeing. The 24 that differ are listed in `KNOWN_DIVERGENCES` with the reason, and asserted to still differ — as `html5lib.spectest.js` does — so fixing one fails the suite rather than leaving the list to rot. They fall in five families: unicode-range and match tokens the corpus predates CSS Syntax 3 dropping, a backslash at end of input, an escaped newline in a string, CDO/CDC in a prelude, and a trailing token in a declaration value.

Do not recursively skip nested error nodes.
component_value_list #49`` contains valid nested ["error", "]"] and `["error", ")"]` nodes. The parser preserves stray closers as component values, and the serializer emits the same nested error representation. `statesAnError` therefore skips a comparable parser tree at line 385.
Apply entry-point-specific handling for top-level parser failures, but keep nested error nodes in the corpus comparison. This preserves the required regression coverage for the bug-fix test.

Upstream writes two unrelated things as `["error", …]`: an entry point's failure return — `empty`, `extra-input`, `invalid`, `eof-in-string`, `eof-in-url` — which webpack answers with the nodes it read instead, and a token the tokenizer produced, which the serializer states like any other. Skipping on the word alone dropped four cases whose only error entries are a stray closer, a bad string or a bad url, so the stray-closer arm of `serializeComponentValue` was never compared against anything. They agree, and the arm is now load-bearing: mistyping one of the three closers fails the run.

`should install onto terser` asserted that under Deno `phases` is empty, because Deno could not import terser's own sources when the test was written. It sometimes can, and then the test fails — it went red once on #22243, a pull request touching only CSS fixtures, and cost a re-run of a 21-minute job to establish it was not that change's doing. Which sources a runtime reaches is the one thing `load` is written to tolerate: it catches any failure and hands back terser's published entry point. So the runtime is the wrong thing to assert. What `load` owes everywhere is that it installed phases this build declares and nothing else, and Node, which always reaches the sources, still owes the whole set — both of which this now states. The fallback path stays covered by behaviour rather than by a hardcoded outcome: every `should mangle exactly as terser does` case compares webpack's `minify` against terser's own, whichever way `load` resolved.
* fix(css): read an rgb()'s separator grammar before folding it `_minifyColorFunction` cuts on whitespace, `,` and `/` in one pass without recording which separator stood where, so every spelling collapsed to the same argument list: `rgb(1, 2 3)`, `rgb(1 2, 3)`, `rgb(1 2 3, .5)`, `rgb(1, 2, 3 / .5)`, `rgb(1 2 3 .5)` and `rgb(1 / 2 / 3)` all folded to a color. Each is a declaration an engine drops, so folding it changed what rendered. This is the defect #22242 fixed for `hsl()`, `hwb()` and the Lab family, left out of that change because `rgb()` reads its arguments through a scanner of its own. The same two grammars decide it — the modern `A B C` with an optional `/ D`, and the legacy `A, B, C` with an optional `, D`, both of which `rgb()` has — so the check is the pair of regexps that change already added, applied after the scan rather than before it, where only a plausible color reaches it. The pending changeset for #22242 covers this, so it is widened rather than duplicated. * chore(changeset): keep the color entry within the length limit The union of the two color fixes ran to 148 characters, where `.changeset/**` asks for one imperative sentence of 80 or fewer. Both facts still fit: the unitless channels that now fold, and the separator grammar that decides whether anything folds at all. * test(javascript): assert what load() owes, not what Deno can import `should install onto terser` asserted that under Deno `phases` is empty, because Deno could not import terser's own sources when the test was written. Summary
cssParsing-webpack.spectest.jscompiled all 8366 css-parsing-tests inputs but only checked that webpack did not crash — it compared an expected value for 13 of them. The other six files state the tree each entry point should read, so this asserts them: 82 comparable cases, 58 agreeing, and the 24 that differ listed inKNOWN_DIVERGENCESwith the reason and asserted to still differ, ashtml5lib.spectest.jsdoes, so fixing one flags the list as stale instead of passing silently. What kind of change does this PR introduce?

AI was used: it wrote the serializer and the suite, measured the corpus agreement, and classified each divergence into the five families named in the commit message; every divergence was reproduced and the list verified load-bearing (removing an entry fails the run) before committing.
