fix(library): keep module library exports live - #22733
Conversation
Hoist an exported module-level let out of its module function to the chunk's scope, so the ESM export binds to it instead of a one-time copy.
… with itemsToRegexp
…om parse data Record every reference to an exported module-level let while the module is parsed, and rename them to a webpack-reserved name the chunk's scope declares. Nothing scans source text and no name can collide, so globals other modules, externals or DefinePlugin read stay untouched.
…ailouts A module library that cannot move a `let` out of its module now says why under performance.analyzableBailouts, and a module calling eval keeps its bindings, which eval may read by name.
A var is hoisted when every module-level declarator of its name is one the walk renamed, counted while pre-walked. A module calling eval keeps its bindings, now reported. An inlined entry keeps its exports object while its body still defines exports on it.
…s live Hoist a destructuring declaration, every var declared beside a hoisted one, and a reassigned function or class. Only bindings written after their declaration move. Exports bind to generated names, never shadowing a global.

lib/library/ModuleLibraryPlugin.js:764-769
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winPreserve the ESM temporal dead zone for pre-declaration accesses.
The current guards do not reject TDZ-sensitive
letor class bindings. For a module containingexport { value }; console.log(value); let value = 0; value = 1;, the parser records the later write and hoists the binding. Startup then declares the hoistedletbefore running the module, soconsole.log(value)readsundefined. Native ESM must throwReferenceErrorwhilevalueis uninitialized. Add a bailout for pre-declaration access before emitting the live-export dependency. Apply the same guard to classes and modules with top-levelawait.Suggested fix

Summary
A module library (
output.library.type: "module") exported each binding as a copy read once at startup, so later writes (count++, reassignedexport function, TLA) never reached importers. Alternative to #22335 without reparsing, regexps on source, or a runtime module. The parser records the occurrences of a written top-level
let/var/function/classbinding (destructuring included). Then the library declares it at chunk scope as__webpack_live_<name>__and exports that binding itself. It also fixesexport constlocals shadowing another module's globals (const x = …; export { x }now always goes through__webpack_exports__x).When a binding stays a copy (
eval, HMR, or declared in another chunk), the analyzable bailout reports it.Before / after (
export let count = 0; export function increment() { return count++; }, from a real build):Cost (lodash-es + 300 written lets, 943 modules): +0.69 MB heap, +16–25 ms CPU (<1%) for module-library builds. Other builds don't load the plugin.
Known gaps:
let/class read before its declaration yieldsundefinedinstead of throwing a TDZ (temporal dead zone) error;keep_fnamesfolds the{ name: fn }.namewrap;keep_fnames(pre-existing).Refs #22335
